Best Tablet for Students on a Budget
Under $ 700?
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Android Tablet:
Let's find out that this year's
Galaxy Tab S8 costs some more than its previous predecessor, which isn't bad
considering some of the new features have been added. The Tab S8 is definitely
not a cheap tablet, but it honestly packs a ton of great features that any
college student in the market for a quality, productivity-focused tablet will
appreciate. Some of you are debating whether you should get this or should get
the iPad air or pro and some of you are just looking for a quality android
tablet for productivity and entertainment this video is for you all when you
look at the hardware of this device it is obvious that this thing is beautiful,
and there's definitely some iPad inspiration here anyway on the back, you've
got a matte aluminum finish with a glass magnetic strip to connect.
On the stylus on the right, you'll find the power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner, the tactile volume rockers, and a micro SD card slot that can be expanded up to one terabyte. You won't see this on any here On the left side of the Apple product are ports for other accessories and on the bottom is a USB charging port that can charge up to 45 watts. Flip this device on the front and you've got an 11-inch, 1600 x 2560 display, while the bezels on the display are slightly begged. The display is still gorgeous and I love streaming content, playing games, and scrolling through books because of its 120-hertz refresh rate and the larger bezels make it easier to hold in hand without spoiling the joke h The visibility is too good and the display is not only good for leisure but also gets bright enough to be read outside.
So I can see it being used for almost anything
you can think of at any time of the day. I highly recommend a case or stand for
this device as the edges are sharp and it's quite uncomfortable to hold in hand
after long periods of use, I'm linking some of my favorites under the 8,000mA
battery here to make sure this tablet runs all day. It's not the best battery
life I've experienced on a tablet, but it's certainly enough for long productivity
sessions. I can usually get a full day of use on productive days, but when I
add gaming or streaming I need to have a portable charger with me. If you look
around the sides you'll see forced-air speakers that get pretty loud and the audio
quality is clear but you won't see a headphone jack here, what a bummer
anyways, this is probably one of the loudest speakers I've ever encountered
whet a tablet like that if you're attending a Zoom meeting or listening to a
lecture you won't Having trouble listening to the base 128 gig model of this
device and you'll have to pay a bit more for 256 gigs, but remember there's a
micro SD card slot that's expandable up to a terabyte if you use it don't want
to pay extra.
The Galaxy Tab S8 has two cameras on the back, a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 6-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens for photos and videos are solid for a tablet. I was surprised to see that this comes with 4k at 60fps. The front camera has a 12-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens that's great for zoom calls and conferences. Sadly, most laptops are double or triple the price this device doesn't even come with the camera system that even comes close to this device, whether you're using it to scan documents or photos. This is surprisingly solid in terms of performance and the operating system that comes with the 8th generation Snapdragon octa-core processor 8 gigs of RAM and Adreno 730 GPU running on Samsung's version of Android 12.
This is probably the most
important reason to buy this tablet. It's one of the most powerful Android
tablets out there, as I mentioned before. Entertainment is great on this device
but I have to say this is the best tablet for multitasking I've seen and that's
partly due to the aspect ratio that you can run three different applications at
the same time which is very impressive, and there is no lag at all Samsung has
launched all of its new tablets with a feature called Samsung Dex that allows
you to boot your tablet into a PC-like mode where you can switch between different
windows of apps and hassle-free Being able to switch between screens has in the
past been my main reason for recommending students to buy something like a
Chromebook or just a typical laptop is because things like connecting your
laptop to an external monitor or multitasking across different windows on it
Chromebooks, but that's not the case anymore. Samsung has also partnered with
Microsoft to let you run Excel Word and other Microsoft apps in multiple
desktop windows.
So typing on this tablet is decent when using the touchscreen. I don't recommend it if you want to get most of the work done. I highly recommend connecting a Bluetooth keyboard or buying a Samsung case that allows you to have a trackpad and keyboard. I just hooked up a wireless keyboard and mouse and found a stand and boom I had a full pc setup almost like this feature is the best thing about the tablet and honestly one of the biggest selling points I think next to dex is Samsung's inclusion of the s pen in the box of most students these days take digital notes. There are times I honestly prefer that to apple pencil. I like how smooth it feels on screen and how the paper sounds when taking notes. It's cool that you can hover the s pen over certain things like the calendar to get more detail without having to tap the screen. I would say the apple pencil is a bit more accurate, but the s pen is more innovative.
So hopefully this article gave you a little closer look at the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.
